The premise
After having her proverbial third eye opened by the strange man who calls himself The Great Opticisioner, Evie Narmer is able to see directly into her past lives. Proving two things: reincarnation is real, but also that her past lives were awful. One of them in particular depicts an awful cult that she thus writes a deep and detailed novel on. Unexpectedly, the last surviving original member catches wind of this novel, and reignites the flame that cult once had. Now, that old man and Evie are at odds. What will happen next? When a mysterious figure known as The Great Opticisioner awakens Evie Narmer's ability to witness her own past lives, she channels the most disturbing of those visions into a novel — not realizing the danger that act of creation will unleash. A surviving member of the very cult she wrote about is still out there, and her book is all the kindling he needs. What begins as a strange psychic gift quickly pulls Evie into a collision between ancient darkness and the present day. The past, it turns out, does not stay buried — and some people prefer it that way.
